5 Ways to Jump-Start Your Business
I’m fully aware that Pinterest isn’t the one and only source to growing your online business. It’s important to have things in place that work hand in hand with Pinterest marketing to make more money in your business.

1. Website
If you’re selling from Esty (or a similar platform) that’s OK (it’s better than just selling from Facebook or Instagram). But the best thing to grow your business, long term, is having a physical website. With your domain name, and hosting. A website is yours. It won’t disappear (unless you quit paying for it). No one can tell you what you can and can’t sell, or how to market it. It’s yours! Learn how to niche down your website so you get “easy yes” for freebies, and use it to brand your business.
Pro Tip: When a pinner comes from Pinterest (to your home page, or blog post) make sure there are a few ways for them to get on your email list.
2. Freebies & Lead Magnets
With a website, you want to start collecting emails. The BEST way to do this is through freebies and/or lead magnets. (I use the term interchangeably). When someone exchanges their email, for something of value, that is one step closer to them becoming a paying client. Most people won’t purchase online courses or services if they haven’t already connected with the business. So, by offering freebies, free calls, PDF’s, mini trainings, etc. to potential clients… they see your value, connect with your brand, and are on their next step to purchasing from you. Win!
3. Email List
Like a website, no one can take your email list away. Facebook, Instagram, and even Pinterest can shut you down on a moment’s notice. Followers have no way of reaching out to you or you connecting to them. Do you see how a website -> freebies -> email list all go hand in hand with growing your business?
After being in the online business space for 8+ years, over multiple businesses, I’ve noticed a few things. The long-term business owners, the ones who succeed, have those 3 things in place.
Pro Tip: With an email list, make sure you are writing to them. Even if it’s just 1x a month, write something to stay connected. Then you won’t feel “weird” selling to them after finally creating your course.
4. Social Media Marketing
Have a presence on social media. I recommend picking one short-term strategy (where you see quick wins, but often take more time in the day-to-day things):
- TikTok
And picking one long-term strategy (where you put in more work upfront, but less work the longer you’re on because SEO takes over):
- YouTube
Pro Tip: Get your long-term strategy set up first. Then, it can work for you, while you learn and stay updated on the short-term strategy.
5. Business Plan
Basically, all the non-sexy stuff for most people. It’s no fun to do all the back-end work (unless that’s your niche). It’s important to learn bookkeeping, and how to write business expenses off on taxes. Learn what your ultimate business plan is, and how your funnel plays into it. Understand your analytics, and keep track of what’s actually working.
Businesses who know how to do these, no matter how “fun” they are, see growth quicker because they know where to stand and what “moves the needle” in their business.
Pro Tip: When you take the time to discover what is actually working, you can re-create that, and save time in the long-run.
Action Step:
Rate yourself from 1-10 in each area. 1 meaning not at all. 10 meaning on top of it.
- How well is your website set up for your niche and to attract leads & sales?
- Do you have freebies that showcase your value and knowledge?
- Do you have an email list, and email them once a month?
- Do you have a short & long-term social media strategy in place?
- How is your business behind – the-scenes? Do you know what’s working, not working, and where money is going?
Find the biggest area of concern, and take a free or paid class to help you with it.
In conclusion,
As an email I received this morning, “There are so many wheels to keep a business going”. I agree. But having these 5 things in place (on your own, or paying for help), will allow you to keep doing what you LOVE and make money.
