You need to have super good SEO keywords for success on Pinterest, but hashtags are not keywords. They are hashtags. Most Pinterest users (read as all Pinterest users) don’t even search using hashtags at all. So when someone says to add keywords to your Pin description, don’t just add hashtags. Make sure you are adding keywords and phrases.

2. Hashtags are showing differently

When you do search a hashtag on Pinterest, the pins which show up are in chronological order. This means very common hashtags don’t last long in the search feed. You want hashtags to be broad, but too broad means they move the feed quickly and never get seen. So what it comes down to is…

In Conclusion

Just don’t use hashtags. The best strategy with Pinterest is using quality keywords. Then, if you really want to, you can add in 1-2 hashtags. But to be honest, after 6 months of seeing no difference with them, I don’t recommend them to my clients at all.
