If you’re new to Pinterest, you may be a little overwhelmed about all you need to do. There is one thing that all beginners tend to do wrong. Well, as a beginner I’ll help you through the biggest Pinterest mistake.
Biggest Pinterest Mistake…
So what is the biggest Pinterest mistake? That is pinning and re-pinning spam and poor quality content.
It’s hard! You’re new to Pinterest, and you’re told to be consistent and pin multiple pins throughout the day. Or maybe you’re trying to get your Tailwind all scheduled up so you can go finish your to-do list.
That’ is OK. But, please, please, please, make sure you are pinning quality content.
Why you want to pin quality content?
When you keep pinning poor-quality content, it can get marked as spam. Then as Pinterest users start marking your pins and re-pins as spam, this leads Pinterest to think of you as a spam account. Worst case, they’ll suspend your account. Best case, they’ll quit putting your pins in the feed. As a result, both cases aren’t very good at increasing your traffic and sales. So, how do we solve that? Make sure you are pinning quality content.
What is Quality Content?
Your Pin Leads to the Correct Website
You want to double-check ALL the pins you re-pin are going to the correct website. There are 2 ways to check this out. First, you want to look at the pin. Is there a logo or website name on it?
If there is a logo or name, you can just hover over the Pin with your mouse, and check to make sure the website which it shows matches the title.
If there isn’t a logo or name, then you’ll need to click on the pin. Most importantly, make sure it goes to a website that is branded and similar to what the pin looks like.
Make sure the Pin Leads to the Correct Article
Pretty basic right? Well, this Pinterest mistake is HUGE! There are so many spammers out there, and they’ll steal images, and lead them to their own blog posts. Then, users may mark them as spam, which as mentioned above, is not good for you.
When the pin says “10 DIY Ice cream recipes” you want to check and make sure it leads to a post with DIY ice cream recipes… hopefully ten of them.
Is the Website Spammy?
You want to make sure the pins lead to a website with good content. There are loads of websites that give you 3 pop-up before you can even read a post. Then when you do get to the post, you’ve got loads of ads all over the place.
Be sure to check that you can actually read the information from the blog post and that they don’t send you to a million other links.
Are the Pins Good?
Above all, pick pins with a good 2:3 ratio in size and a good pin image. Pin quality pin images that look good. As a result, the better the pins look, the more re-pins and clicks it’ll get. As you pin good pins and get engagement, Pinterest will boost your profile and your pins and your traffic will increase as well.
In Conclusion
Please, as a beginner, don’t make this biggest Pinterest mistake by pinning poor quality, spammy pins. You’ll be glad you took the time to investigate the pins later.
