3 Steps to Clean up your Pinterest Account

When talking about cleaning up your Pinterest account, the biggest thing you want to focus on is your boards, profile, and strategy.

Step 1: Update your Boards

The biggest and most important things on your Pinterest account are your boards. These are the big-ticket items Pinterest uses to “file” you and know what your profile does to help others.

The first thing you want to do with your boards is to take all your boards that are not relevant to your target client and delete them, or make them “secret”.

Secondly, you want to drag and drop your website board, and put it as the very first board on your page. Did you know you needed to have a board with just your pins from your website? You totally do! This is the one and only board that will ONLY have your pins on it. Make it first ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally, you’ll want to reorganize your boards. The boards which answer your client’s top 3 most burning questions will go right after your website board. Then keep moving them in order from greatest importance to least.

And remember, if some boards don’t apply at all to your target client, then just get rid of them ๐Ÿ˜‰

Step 2: Update your Profile

First off, if you don’t have a business profile, you need one. Then, you need to update your profile with your best website address. Finally, update your profile description making sure to include the best keywords and phrases (SEO) to target your clients.

Step 3: Update your Strategy

Have you bought Tailwind and have gotten lazy with it? Make sure your Pinterest strategy includes some manual pinning.

To be honest, I prefer 100% manual pinning, and to just forget about Tailwind altogether (it’ll save you time and money not using it, ask me how here).

Update your strategy being sure you include manual pinning, adding new content to the platform, and re-pinning others’ content as well.

In Conclusion

Cleaning up your Pinterest account is a great way to start fresh on the platform or a great way to start when you’re changing direction with your website. It’s also a great idea to do this once a year, to really focus on your clients.

Once your account is cleaned up, be sure to make sure you are focusing on the right numbers.
